Beginning January 29th, 2018 everyone must REGISTER NO LATER THAN THE DAY BEFORE THE CLASS IS SCHEDULED to guarantee the class will be held.

You can Register for any of the classes by clicking on the link above or you can call (205-620-6426) or come into the Rec Center to register before the day of the class.

We appreciate your cooperation with this new procedure and apologize for any inconvenience you may have had due to classes not being held. This has been a learning curve for our entire staff. We hope this will remedy any issues going forward.

Pelham Recreation Center is excited to announce the start of Meditation in Motion for teens ages 13-18.This class is being taught by the City of Pelham's very own Jerry Wideman a Martial Arts Expert.

Meditation in Motion for Teens Class

The City of Pelham along with the Pelham Park & Recreation Staff would like to welcome the Fitness Instructors below to our team. They are a Great Addition to our new Pelham Recreation Center Staff and will offer all kinds of Fitness Classes. Look at each Instructor's bios and continue to check back for classes coming after the New Year.

Tresa Turner

Tresa is an AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor, specializing in REFIT®, STRONG®, Zumba® and Zumba® Gold.

Courtney is an AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor, specializing in REFIT®, Zumba® and Zumba® Kids.

Erin Smith

Erin Smith grew up in the Shelby County area and played soccer competitively through college. During high school she discovered the love of a healthy lifestyle and from there grew to becoming an ACE Certified Personal Trainer (10 years), Group Exercise Instructor (5 years), and holding a Bachelor’s of Science in Administration of Outdoor Recreation and Physical Education. Her passion is helping others discover what a healthy lifestyle means to them. Erin will be teaching Strength/Cardio, Cycle, TRX, and H.I.T.T classes as well as offering Personal Training as 1 to 1 and 2 to 1 options; although the classes are higher intensity style, all are encouraged to discover their fit!

Erin and her husband work in the Pelham community and reside in the Shelby County area with their son who was welcomed in 2017.

Lorie Flanegan
Lorie Lee Flanegan

Began dance at age 3, training in Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet and Gymnastics until age 18. Her introduction to ballroom began in 2007 with a choreographed bride and groom dance. She returned to ballroom again in 2012 and has been teaching ever since. She has performed locally in both student and professional exhibitions. Along with teaching, she also co-manages Champion Latin and Ballroom in Vestavia, Alabama.  

While dancing is her passion, she also earned a Bachelor of Health Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2007 and has practiced opticianry for the past 14 years.

Alesia Aaron

Alesia Aaron

Alesia began her lifelong love of dance at the age of 5 when her mother enrolled her in a ballet class. She eventually expanded her dance knowledge to include jazz, hip hop, and tap. When the opportunity to teach dance fitness presented itself, she "jumped" at the chance.

Alesia is certified as a REFIT® instructor and has been teaching at a local church for the last 3 years.

Angela Larota

Meet Angela LaRota: an Alabama-native who resides in Pelham with her wonderful husband and two beautiful boys. She has a dance background and incorporates her experience into each Pilates class: a low intensity, total body workout that will help increase strength, flexibility, & mobility. Once introduced to Pilates, she has been able to manage her own scoliosis and improve pain symptoms as her passion for sharing this effective form of exercise continues to grow. Angela is currently in the process of attaining a Balanced Body Pilates Education and has completed both Mat and Reformer training with the goal of comprehensive certification. Join us in your own journey to becoming Pilates Strong!
