Message from the Mayor Gary W. Waters
I would like to thank everyone for helping us to serve you better. I can tell by the low volume of traffic on the highway that many of you are making a genuine effort to stay at home. During this time of "Social Distancing" the safest place for you to be is at home. If you will stay at home, wash your hands and check on your neighbors, we will get through this thing. Keep up to date with our website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. We will continue to push information out as it becomes available.

PROTECTING PUBLIC HEALTH
Shelby County is not under any additional requirements than those that have been in place since March 20th. For guidance, planning, preparing, and responding the outbreak:
GENERAL HEALTH GUIDELINES
- Avoid gatherings of people
- Use "physical distancing" of at least six feet apart
- Use knuckles or elbows to turn on light switches
- Use paper towels/gloves to lift gas pump handles
- Wash hands thoroughly, at least 20 seconds
- Use hand sanitizer with a .60% alcohol when soap and water is not readily available
- No handshaking
- No "social kissing" or hugging when greeting friends and relatives
- Use sanitizing wipes on surfaces prior to use
- If you don’t feel well: STAY AT HOME
Should you have a fever, cough or other symptoms of a contagious respiratory illness and you must call 911 for a medical emergency, please inform the 911 dispatcher of your symptoms. This will allow first responders to take extra measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Support Local Business
The City of Pelham understands that the following weeks will be difficult for many of our local businesses and employees. We encourage citizens to continue to support Pelham’s local businesses. Below are a few constructive ways to support our local and small businesses in this time.
- Local Restaurants
- Buy gift cards or certificates: A little here and there can hold small businesses over
- Shop online: Check Facebook, Instagram and other social media outlets for business websites or stores
- Order takeout and/or use drive through and curbside pick-up options
- Tip generously
- If you are a business with employees working extended hours, consider bringing in meals from a Pelham restaurant.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
- Driver's License Renewal Extension
- State of Alabama Department of Revenue - Motor Vehicle Registration
The IRS has launched a new tool to ensure those who are not required to file income taxes receive their economic impact payment. To see the qualifications and to enter your payment information if you’re a non-filer, click here.
