The 2022 Pelham Polar Plunge has been postponed until April 2, 2022.
Several factors contributed to the decision, including the high positivity rate of COVID-19 in Shelby Co. While it is an outdoor event, we must take the health and safety of our officers, other first responders, participants, and our community into account.
We appreciate your understanding, and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause anyone. If you are registered but cannot participate on the new date, please let us know, and we will make arrangements to get your T-shirt to you.
Plunge into icy cold waters to help provide over 15,000 Special Olympics Alabama athletes with an opportunity to participate in sports training and competition programs that help them live longer, happier, healthier lives.
In a world where we're reinventing everything we do, it seems, we're making some changes to the Pelham Polar Plunge. We want this event to grow even more, by attracting families and spectators, with the hope they, too, will become champions of our cause. We will have food trucks and some cool giveaways. Are you brrrrrrave enough to take the plunge with us?
On top of that, each person registered to plunge will receive a T-shirt and a chance to win a fun door prize. Anyone in attendance will also have an opportunity to buy extra chances to win one of three grand prizes. ALL proceeds raised will benefit Special Olympics Alabama. Come dressed in costume for a chance to win bragging rights. *You must be registered to plunge to participate in the costume contest.*
