The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for the part time position of Municipal Associate – Bus Driver with the Pelham Senior Center.
Summary: Responsible for driving buses for the safe transportation of people to locations and back original point of origin.
Representative List of Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The list is not intended to be all-inclusive nor exclusive, but is intended to provide examples of typical duties performed
- Transport people on a city bus to local, out of town and out of state predetermined locations.
- Assist full time staff in travel directions as needed.
- Drive city vehicles to be serviced and filled with gas.
- Conduct pre and post trips status checks for bus fluid and gas levels, brake functions, traffic signals wipers.
- Clean interior and exterior of the bus as needed.
- Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to stay overnight during out-of-town trips.
- Provides friendly customer service to city patrons.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with others.
Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in operating a bus or equivalent type vehicle.
Certificates and Licenses: Valid Alabama Driver’s License; Commercial Driver’s License with Passengers (CDLP)
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and smell.
Applicant must satisfactorily pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen after receiving conditional offer of employment. Compensation is $15.00 per hour. Meals covered on all trips and lodging covered on out-of-town trips.
