  1. Invasive Plants—Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing??

    June 17, 2021, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

    This presentation discusses non-native plants identified by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) that have been introduced into our local landscapes as ornamentals and have become invasive weeds with negative impacts to our native plants and animals. Participants will learn how non-native invasive plants harm our environment, what characteristics suggest that a plant may become invasive, and why it is important to include native plants in landscapes. Invasive plants discussed include Chinese privet, Callery or “Bradford” pear, Mimosa, and others. The program is free, but seating is limited. To reserve a seat, please call the library at 620-6418.
